A second in-person training training event was attended by all CriticalEarth PhDs, as well as a number of external students and Postdocs. The event took place 25-29th April 2022 at Berg en Dal, Netherlands, and was organised by CriticalEarth beneficiaries Henk Dijkstra (Utrecht University) and Freddy Bouchet (ENSL).
The training event focused on 1) Machine Learning and the Physics of Climate and 2) Extreme Events in Weather and Climate, and participants were taught via lectures and practical group work and there were specialist key note presentations throughout.
The next training event will be held in Germany in the Autumn (2022), and will focus on “Methods of Stochastic Multiscale Dynamics”
